Welcome to the particle zoo!

On this website you'll get a chance to meet various particles and to learn a bit about their habits. We start with the smallest ones and go on to more complex and exotic particles. But of course this is a zoo, and if you wish, you can go along any path you like.

Click around and enjoy our particles on display, but don't worry if you don't understand everything right away. Particle physics insl't the easiest subject and you might have to read something a few times before you understand all of it. Our particles are captured, so they won't be running away soon.

Under the heading species , you can meet and pet some nice and friendly particles. Under the heading gender you can learn about normal particles, their antis, and about virtual particles. If you're wondering what the heck particles are, this is the perfect place to start.

Of course we also provide a place to have fun, which is a must for a zoo. If you're tired, come play one of the games in between.

Actually, the name "Particle Zoo" is wrong, it should be "Particle Petting Zoo". We have mostly nice, small particles on display that don't bite. This is good for a beginning, but if you're interested in learning more, you'll have to visit some bigger zoos. Along the way, we keep providing weblinks for this purpose.
