The gluon belongs to the group of bosons . It is the force carrier particle of the color force. Every gluon carries a color charge and an anti color charge. Two gluons can exchange a third gluon and change their color in the process. This makes the force they create very strong. Photons, the carrier particles of the electromagnetic force , do not carry a charge themselves and they can't exchange more photons among themselves, so the electromagnetic force is much weaker.
