Bosons are force carrier particles, as opposed to fermions that make up matter. For example, the photon is the carrier of the electric force and the gluon is the carrier of the color force . Other bosons are the W and Z particles and the mesons that are built of a quark antiquark pair.
Bosons have integer spins so they don't obey the Pauli principle ; bosons like to be in groups while fermions each need their own territory.
