The standard model is the widest accepted scientific theory on how our world is built.

It states that everything is made up of two groups of tiny particles, the fermions which build up matter, and the bosons which carry the forces.

There are four different forces in the standard modell, the color force , the electromagnetic force , the weak force and the gravitational force .

Scientist are trying to put the first three forces together, so they can be seen as different aspects of one force. This theory already got the glamorous name GUT (Grand Unification Theory). Not far off is its brother TOE (Theory of Everything) which will unify all the four forces of the standard modell. A TOE candidate is the string theory .
